Hole #9 "The Vietnam War"
Obstacles
The Uphill Slope
Our first Obstacle: The uphill slope, represents the struggle that vietnam had to go through after becoming a Japanese colony, they revolted against the Japanese and gained their independence in 1945, but their independence lasted a short time, france tried to recolonise them, this led to "The Second Indochina War" also known as "The Vietnam War"
The Buildings
Our Second Obstacle: The Buildings in Dien Bien Phu, this obstacle represents The French Fortress that the french tried to hide in, but were cornered by the Viet minh Soldiers in 1954.
The Gulf of Tonkin
Our third obstacle:The Gulf of tonkin represents the incident that happened on August 2, 1964. Two United States ships that were cruising in The Gulf of Tonkin allegedly said that they were under the attack of North Vietnamese Soviet built torpedo boats.
Bypass Bridge
Our Fourth obstacle: The bypass bridge represents the bridges that were used in the operation “rolling thunder” from 1965 to 1968 , the purpose of this operation was to attack vietnamese supplies from the air because the U.S couldn’t beat them in land, One of their targets were bridges, therefore the Vietnamese had to create make shift bridges to get to where they wanted.
The Red "T"
Our fifth Obstacles: The red "T" represents the tet offensive, This obstacle blocks the ball. The T is red because that's the color of communism, “Tet” is holiday in Vietnam ,the North Vietnamese attacked Vietnamese cities on this holiday, which was one of the reasons that the U.S retreated from Vietnam.
Minefield
Our sixth obstacle: represents landmines in Cambodia. In 1970 the U.S told the Vietnamese in Cambodia to lower their military aggression. In most areas it decreased, but in cambodia, nothing changes so the US attacked the Vietnamese and they found landmines.
The Vietnam War Infoboard
This infoboard is what we used to display all the work we created throughout this project.
Vietnam Blueprint
In math class we had to create blueprints for each group, the blueprint shows how each shot can be made.
Building process
We had to measure the pieces of wood for our course, then we glue fake plastic grass and attached trim. For my group we had to measure out extra pieces of wood to create the slope for our course.
Humanities
In Humanities, we studied about The Vietnam War. The Vietnam war was a proxy war between the United States which were anti-communist and Russia (U.S.S.R) which was communist. The war in Vietnam was between The South Vietnamese (anti-communist) who were allied with The United States, and the North Vietnamese (Communist) who were allied with Russia. The War lasted 20 years from 1955 to 1975, the war ended when the city of Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) fell into the hands of the communist.
We had to create obstacles that corresponded with each event, we wrote essays about the obstacles and created them, my obstacle was "The Gulf of Tonkin".

Math
In Math, we learned how to make 4 different types of shots we learned slope, reflection, isosceles, and the 90 degree angle shot. We created the obstacles and the courses, we also created a blueprint to show how each shot was made.
Multimedia
In multimedia, we were divided into four groups, the "Art & Marketing Group", "The Humanities group", "The Math Group", and "The Video Group". My group was the "Art & Marketing Group", we had to create the poster, score cards and the decorations.
Exhibition
Exhibition was a great experience for me, my group was the"Art & Marketing Group" , we had to make decorations and create the poster for exhibition. Exhibition night was really fun and a great experience, we got to educate the students and their parents while also playing golf. Many of the parents knew about our topics and they educated us too.
