1.How can we share our VR worlds at the Maker Faire on Dec 3? Be specific. How will you succinctly describe the process of developing VR content? How will a passerby experience our VR worlds? What can a participant take away from our booth that would help them develop their own VR content? How will you communicate the bigger picture issues you investigated? E.g., what is reality? How do we develop/recognize biases?
By creating elegant eye catching posters that draw the passer by's attention to our stations where we can present our ideas in a professional manner, and providing the passer by an experience they cannot forget in order to increase their interest in VR. The passer by will leave our booth with a new idea on how to develop a VR world of their choosing, and we will walk them through what they need to do in order to make that idea become reality. 2.Provide a brief summary of Dewey’s ideas. Where in the VR project do you see Dewey’s ideas being implemented? Where could they be better implemented? Dewey's Ideas consist of reforming education so that the student can learn from the teacher and the teacher can from the student as a team. I believe that this would not work in VR, because we cannot portray emotion, and we don't have the technology to create a real life VR class setting. However, it would be really interesting if a student was playing the role of teacher in VR, and we could watch them teaching and learning from other students to notice how much growth happens in Dewey based educational setting. 3. Provide a brief summary of Pink’s argument about motivation. What would this look like in the school setting? Pink's argument is very simple, you need to provide an incentive in order to boost your motivation, and giving someone the freedom to innovate and think can increase their performance exponentially. This example would work best in art class where a student has to come up with an idea that is artist, and create it without the pressure of it being labeled with a grade letter.

5. (Engineering) Specialists: You are now a third through the time allocated for building a VR world. What is your plan to earn an A for this project? Work hard and never look behind. Producers: Describe any concerns you have about whether the people you have hired will be able to produce a VR world that will meet your rubric's A criteria. No concerns, just going to do our best. 6. How has your perspective on what constitutes reliable news changed? Do you think you are a more critical consumer of the information? why do you think this ability is important to your own life/to the country? include at least two pictures from your work over the last few weeks 1. What is working well so far? What problem have you noticed so far with this project and how would you fix it?
The two hours we have in class really help! I just feel like the programming will take a lot of time, but that's what professional development is for! 2. What strategies do you find helpful when trying to work in a distracting place? What is working well so far? Listening to music really helps! and also finding a quiet place. 3. How can words be used by those in power to influence our choices? Through advertising i.e [double speak] 1. What was the most disturbing prediction in the singularity reading and why?
That cellphones were taking over the world so rapidly. 2. In what way was the job fair/interview process authentic? How could it be made more authentic? What did you learn about yourself through this process? I felt like the process wasn't authentic. It seemed like an exercise rather than the real thing, I feel like if we actually made resumes and professionally applied it would have been more authentic. 3. Does advertising shape or reflect our society? Should there be stricter regulations on advertisers? If so, what restrictions should be there? Advertising is a perfect reflection of our society. It symbolizes how much we want to control others and sway their minds to meet our needs. Advertising definitely needs restrictions, especially for children because their minds are so fragile and malleable. We need to better educate the public from an early age in order to protect them from the radiation of advertising. Engineering: What skill(s) are you training for? What have you learned so far this week? What challenges and celebrations did you encounter? What are your goals for next week? Any surprises? While working on this project, I realized that I need to time my self better, and learn to create deadlines to produce work more efficiently. My only challenge is getting a good team in place in order to create the best product we could create. My goal for next week is to have the team ready for the project launch. English: How did our study of propaganda and doublespeak impact your thinking about reality? What questions did this study raise for you? Propaganda really opened my eyes to how oblivious I was. I learned that my mind can be controlled without me realizing it, and it was happening often. This really changed my view of reality, and how real it really wasn't. I began to question, what else I was oblivious to ? |
